December: the month of merriment and joy. And weddings are a cause for joy and celebrating. Therefore, December is a great time to have a wedding. Let’s go over five important factors necessary for the perfect Winter Wonderland Wedding.
Color Palette and Accents: Silver and gold. White, obviously. Ice blue and other frosty colors, like lilac and blush. And the most important accent: GLITTER! Or sparkle or shimmer of some kind.
Floral Options and Fillers: When choosing your bouquets and other floral arrangements think about the season. While there aren’t a lot of in season flowers in winter you still have some flora choices that can be paired with the classic rose to create a stunningly unique winter flower display. You could mix different pastel colored roses with white roses or lilies. Have sprigs of evergreens or other greenery, silver or white branches, and cranberry bunches as fillers. For an added extra pop of sparkle, like a dusting of fresh snow, you could add little crystals or pearls to the center of some of the flowers, or mini glittery snowflakes hanging from the neck of the bouquets. Red and white is always a rich and elegant combination.
How to Decorate: Having a winter themed wedding allows for two different options. You could play up the Christmas side of the season with ornaments, tinsel, garland and strands of flowers and greenery, twinkly lights, candlesticks or suspended candles. Or go the winter route with baby’s-breath, frosted branches, snowflakes and icicles, cranberries, pinecones and evergreens.
Cake and Sweets: A smooth, clean exterior, multiple tiered caked dusted with white edible glitter. A two tiered naked cake decorated with sugar coated cranberries, so they look frosted with snow, pinecones, cinnamon sticks and evergreen branches. And for some added sweetness: snowflake cookies, ornament decorated cupcakes, hot cocoa with marshmallows, donuts dusted with powdered sugar, and cake pops dipped with shiny sprinkles.
